Login issues

Login is exclusively done using passkeys. If you've completed sign up then a passkey for Secure ID was generated already.

This passkey was stored as either a platform key or hardware key. For more information on the difference between these, see this article

With passkey login you don't enter a username.

Instead when you press the login button then your browser should check for relevant passkeys for https://app.id.garden/. What the exact prompt looks like and the available options will depend on your OS/Browser.

If you have multiple Secure ID accounts then your browser should give you a choice of passkey to use. Otherwise if there is only one then the browser may attempt to use it immediately.

There should always be a further check to establish two-factor authentication.

  • On devices with biometric sensors (e.g. fingerprint reader) this will typically be a biometric check.
  • On devices without biometric sensors you will be asked to enter a pin code to unlock the platform/hardware

Note this pin code is not set or stored by Secure ID. This is the pin code for either your platform password manager or hardware authenticator key that was probably set the first time you created a passkey on one of these devices.
